Reader Survey (and some minor stuff about media bias)

Survey Question:  Which of the above photos do you find more appealing?  As they say in my hometown, "not for nothin'.  Just askin'".

Anyway, the attached link describes statements to CNN by White House Communications Director Anita Dunn (pictured above.)  She goes into great detail about how Fox news is a "wing" of the Republican Party, while CNN is of course a true news network.  I have to agree.  Rarely, do I see any sort of left wing bias in the reporting of CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The San Francisco Chronicle, etc. Certainly, they never slam the right.  They just report the news in an uncolored manner so you can decide what conclusions to draw.  That statement is true along with "I did not have sex with that woman, Ms. Lewinsky", "the check is in the mail", "Read my lips; no new taxes", "I attended Reverend Wright's church but didn't agree with most of what he said" and "we will cut taxes for the middle class".

This claim by the Obama administration made me think yet again about the subject of overall media bias.  It is truly astounding how this administration can make a nonsensical claim like this, especially since a compliant mainstream media in fact got their no-name, do nothing candidate elected through sheer biased reporting of his campaign.  But hey, just as with Clarence Thomas, it's not the truth that counts.  It's the severity of the charge.  It also helps if you repeat the same baseless twaddle over and over.  If you say it enough, a certain number of idiots will believe it.

You might want to pay particular attention to these two paragraphs.  You decide who's "fair and balanced":

"As for Dunn's complaint about Fox News' coverage of the Obama campaign, a study by the Pew Research Center showed that 40 percent of Fox News stories on Obama in the last six weeks of the campaign were negative. Similarly, 40 percent of Fox News' stories on Obama's Republican opponent, Sen. John McCain, were negative.
"On CNN, by contrast, there was a 22-point disparity in the percentage of negative stories on Obama (39 percent) and McCain (61 percent). The disparity was even greater at MSNBC, according to Pew, where just 14 percent of Obama stories were negative, compared to a whopping 73 percent of McCain stories -- a spread of 59 points."
Of course, none of this info will change the opinion on either side of the issue.  I still contend that I'm correct in saying the media has a hard left bias based on my personal observations and several reputable polls over the years. In fact, several polls have shown that over 90% of the main stream media votes Democrat.

When I was in my mid 20's, I regarded Walter Cronkite as the epitome of honest journalism.  That is until I really thought about what he was saying.  His reporting of the Vietnam war bordered on criminal because his actions gave vast aid and comfort to our enemy.  By his account of the Tet Offensive, our bumbling military finally lost the war during that campaign. In fact, it was a great and hard fought victory for the U.S. Marines.  In later years, Cronkite's Progressive agenda bias became even more obvious.  If this man, who has long been held up as a paragon of unbiased journalism, leaned so far to the left, how fair do you think the rest of the media is?

To validate my assertions, you may want to read this information from the Media Research Center:

I'm using Cronkite as one glaring example of the huge left wing bias in the media.  You can easily identify dozens of other "journalists" who are blatant liberals and regularly taint their news coverage with their opinions.  The point is that we shouldn't trust what these people feed us and we should always verify our information from multiple sources.  They should do this too, but they don't.

As far as Obama's propaganda machine having the gall to complain about Fox news, I can only say that you've got 90%+ of the egg sucking liberal media in your court.  Were not going to let you shut the other 10% up, no matter how hard you try.
